Can you tell us a bit about where you are from and what influenced your decision to attend FSU as a distance learning student?

My name is April Moore, I am 31 years old, and I am from a small town called Olustee, Florida. Choosing to attend Florida State University was the best decision I ever made. It was a no brainer. The idea of enrolling in this college's BS program excited me to the hilt! The program's creative and innovative approach to crime scene investigation immediately caught my attention when I came across its website. I was attracted to the program's emphasis on hands-on learning and real-world case studies right away since I have always been interested about finding solutions to challenging challenges and bringing about change.

Which faculty or staff members at FSU Panama City have significantly impacted or inspired you during your time here?

Charla Perdue and Korri Daniels. These two women have been so vital in my life for these last few years. They have stirred motivation in me. Since day one they have shown me nothing but love, grace, encouragement, and support. They want me to succeed not only in the classroom, but outside of it and beyond. I believe that people who influence you are the people that believe in you. I just really love them.

In what ways has the Crime Scene Investigation program supported your current career, or how do you envision it helping you achieve your future career goals?

A college degree opens more opportunities, even in fields that are not in your major. Obtaining a degree takes discipline and a will to succeed. By getting your degree, you overcome procrastination and learn to do what it takes to reach your goal. The crime scene investigation degree is a foundation for me and my future goals.

What advice or encouragement would you offer to prospective crime scene investigation undergraduate students who are considering applying to the program?

My advice is to embrace your curiosity and passion for uncovering the truth, as this field needs a keen eye for detail and a strong analytical mindset. Be prepared to work hard as the coursework and real-world applications can be challenging, but incredibly rewarding. Take pride in knowing your work will play a crucial role in the pursuit of justice. Take advantage of hands-on learning opportunities, as these experiences will be crucial in developing your skills. Lastly, build a staunch support network with peers, professors, and professionals, as they will be essential in guiding you through the journey. This has helped me tremendously. Remember, this is not just a career path—it is a calling that makes a real difference in the world.
