Jared Dewey, Crime Scene Investigation (distance learning) undergraduate student
Where are you from? Why did you choose to attend FSU as a distance learning student?
I am from Florida. I chose FSU as a distance learning student because the program fits into my busy schedule. And of course, FSU is the best school.
What inspired you to choose your degree program?
The CSI Program will help me in my current profession and will hopefully allow me to share what I have learned with my coworkers.
What has your experience been so far in the program?
Although I’m just starting in the program, my experience has been positive and I recommend the CSI bachelor’s degree program to anyone interested in getting into and learning about the field of forensics. The instructors go out of there way to make the experience meaningful and relevant.
What aspect of your area of study do you find most fascinating?
Although the hands-on portion keeps the CSI program from being completely all online, I feel that the hands-on labs are the most intriguing and fascinating. The hands-on portion helps bring what we learn in the lecture portion into perspective.
Who are the faculty or staff members that have helped or inspired you?
It is hard for me to pick one staff member. All the staff are excellent and go out of their way to make the learning experience fun and worthwhile.
What do you like to do when you’re not doing school work?
I enjoy participating in competitive handgun shooting, cooking on the pellet grill, and just recently went on a cruise and enjoyed it.
After you graduate, what are your plans?
I hope to use what I learn to help me promote and advance in my current career field.
What advice do you have for fellow students?
Work hard and never stop learning, this field can be very rewarding.
