Distance learning student Logan Lowery works towards his master's in Organizational Management and Communication
Where are you from? Why did you choose to attend FSU as a distance learning student?
My family and I are natives of North Florida, and I was raised in Lake City, Florida. My parents met at FSU and as a second-generation Seminole, all I ever wanted to do since I was little was to graduate from Florida State University.
What inspired you to choose your degree program?
While participating in a volunteer mission in the Philippines for two years, a mentor of mine introduced me to Dale Carnegie. Which opened my eyes to the communications world. After my volunteer mission, I would attend BYU-Idaho and major in Strategic Organization, which involved all the aspects I loved about business. Fortunately, after graduating with my bachelor’s I found that FSU had the perfect major to continue my education in Organizational Management and Communication.
What has your experience been so far in the program?
My experience at FSU has been great! I love being around students and faculty who have busy lives but continue to strive to better themselves in their education.
What aspect of your area of study do you find most fascinating?
I love the aspect of how we can learn to be more effective in our lives and what we can do to become closer to individuals around us.
Who are the faculty or staff members that have helped or inspired you?
My Graduate Coordinator, Cristina Doan has been so helpful in guiding me along every semester by helping me plan and prepare what I need to accomplish to graduate from FSU.
What do you like to do when you’re not doing schoolwork?
I love watching Florida State Football and anything related to NASCAR and dirt track racing!
After you graduate, what are your plans?
I would like to continue my career in the automotive field and use principles from FSU to become a good husband and father one day.
What advice do you have for fellow students?
The biggest advice I would give is to have a designated day planned throughout your week, which you can prioritize and prepare for what is needed that week.
