Riddhi Patel, Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Student
Can you tell us a bit about where you're from and what influenced your decision to attend FSU Panama City as a Nurse Anesthesia doctoral student?
My life's been quite an adventure! I was born in India in a small village. At age 9, my family moved to Woburn, MA. I've had the privilege of experiencing diverse cultures and perspectives across multiple states in the United States. Word of mouth about FSU's program and shadowing FSU graduates during the pandemic solidified my decision to apply. The opportunity to learn from world-class faculty and be part of a supportive community has been incredibly inspiring.
Which faculty or staff members at FSU Panama City have significantly impacted or inspired you during your time here?
I'm incredibly fortunate to have been mentored by such an amazing group of faculty members. Dr. VanDyke ignited my passion for anesthesia and advocacy, while Dr. Hodges encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone and push myself the hardest. Dr. Hogan inspired me with his dedication to excellence and professional development, and Dr. Smith taught me the importance of precision and finesse in my skills. But if I had to pick one mentor, it would have to be Dr. Stewart. His passion for teaching, advocacy, and continuing education is something I aspire to. His intellectual brilliance coupled with his compassionate nature makes him an exceptional role model.
In what ways has the Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia program supported your current career, or how do you envision it helping you achieve your future career goals?
The DNP program at FSU Panama City has significantly shaped my career. The rigorous curriculum and hands-on clinical experiences have provided a strong foundation in anesthesia theory and practice. I've gained valuable experience working with diverse patients, developing the skills and confidence needed for a demanding profession. I'm excited to apply my knowledge to provide exceptional anesthesia care and contribute to the field's advancement. I’m grateful for the opportunities and support I’ve received throughout this program.
