Can you tell us a bit about where you're from and what influenced your decision to apply to the Corporate and Public Communication graduate program at FSU Panama City

I grew up in Panama City and earned my Bachelor of Science in Professional Communication from FSU Panama City in 2022. After gaining hands-on experience in the field, I knew I wanted to take the next step to refine my skills and deepen my expertise. Returning to FSU Panama City was an easy decision, as I knew the faculty, resources, and support here would not only help me thrive in a graduate program but also equip me with the knowledge and experience to excel in my career.
Which faculty or staff members at FSU Panama City have significantly impacted or inspired you during your time in the Corporate and Public Communication graduate program?
Dr. Lawrence and Dr. Parker have played a pivotal role in shaping my experience in the Corporate and Public Communication graduate program. Their dedication to their students goes beyond the classroom. They provide the guidance, knowledge, and real-world insights needed to succeed both academically and professionally. Learning from professors with such deep expertise in the field has transformed the way I view communication and its profound impact on society. I genuinely feel like I’m learning from the best, and I’m incredibly grateful for their support and mentorship.
In what ways has the Corporate and Public Communication graduate program supported your current career, and how do you envision it helping you achieve your future career goals in this field?
The Corporate and Public Communication graduate program has been instrumental in refining my communication skills, strategic thinking, and ability to navigate complex organizational challenges. Through coursework and mentorship from my professors, I’ve gained valuable, real-world skills that I’ve already applied in my career, whether it’s managing branding initiatives, crafting persuasive messaging, or developing effective communication strategies for businesses.
Looking ahead, this program has laid the foundation for me to step into higher-level roles in the communication field. With a strong emphasis on research-driven strategies and real-world application, it has not only prepared me for leadership opportunities but has also equipped me with the tools to drive meaningful change through the power of communication.
What advice or encouragement would you offer to prospective students considering applying to the Corporate and Public Communication graduate program?
There’s so much I would share with a prospective student of the Corporate and Public Communication graduate program, but above all, I’d say to never give up. Graduate school isn’t easy, but it’s one of the most rewarding and transformative experiences you can undertake. The effort you put in directly shapes what you get out of it, so stay focused, give it your all, and trust that the hard work will pay off. Lean on your professors and peers for support and remember that every challenge you overcome is paving the way for opportunities you never imagined possible!
