Siena Siciliano, Professional Communication undergraduate student

Cristina Doan

Please tell us a bit about where you're from and what influenced your decision to attend FSU Panama City as a Professional Communication student.

I am from Gunter, Texas. I lived there for my whole life until I was 18, and I moved to Panama City Beach, Florida, after graduation. I wanted to pursue FSU in Panama City because it has a fantastic communications program that allows me to go from a BS to an MS degree seamlessly. Additionally, I wanted to broaden my knowledge to improve myself.

Which faculty or staff members at FSU Panama City have significantly impacted or inspired you during your time here?

I have been inspired and highly thankful to Brain Parker for allowing me and others to put our creative minds to use in projects that helped me to get out of my comfort zone and embrace what it means to be in college.

In what ways has the Professional Communication program supported your current career, or how do you envision it helping you achieve your future career goals?

The Professional Communication Program has helped me through the BS/MS program, which allows me to extend my reach to a higher education program that will benefit me now and in the future. Their amazing staff and students have made me feel welcome and pushed me to go further than I thought possible. I will use everything I have learned to pursue my dream of being a Travel Writer. They have brought a certain confidence in me that I will use to plow through any struggles that come my way to achieve my goal.

What advice or encouragement would you offer to prospective Professional Communication undergraduate students who are considering applying to the program?

I would highlight that FSU is truly a special place based on a strong community and astounding academic opportunities. The staff and the professors have such an outgoing and friendly presence. They will push you to be your very best, and I appreciate the uplifting environment in which you can grow and learn. Thanks to FSU for that.
