Where are you from? Why did you choose to attend FSU?
I moved to Panama City in 1963, grew up here, went to school here. FSU came to Panama City in 1982, I obtained my Bachelor of Science, Criminology, in 1986. As my career advanced, I saw the opportunity for further career advancement. Living here and having access to the school provided easy access to continue my education while advancing my career goals.
What inspired you to choose your degree program?
Started my law enforcement career in 1981 with Panama City Beach Police. During my employment with them, I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree. Through the encouragement of family and employer, I decided to further my education to obtain my Master’s Degree. I chose Law Enforcement Intelligence as a natural addition to my Bachelor’s Degree and law enforcement career.
What has your experience been so far in the program?
Communication and services provided with the University have been of great assistance. The information provided within the courses is valid and current to actual current practice. Each course seamlessly ties from one to another, threading the information and knowledge provided.
What aspect of your area of study do you find most fascinating?
Through my law enforcement career, I see the genuine need for the analyst information provided within this program. At the same time, I have direct involvement with FUSION Centers and Real-Time Intelligence Centers, which are growing and expanding daily in their operations locally and across the nation. The use of analysts and these centers certainly will directly impact future law enforcement capabilities.

What do you like to do when you’re not doing schoolwork?
Travel, Boat, and shop with my wife.
After you graduate, what are your plans?
Continue my career as the Panama City Chief of Police, continue mentoring services with FSU.
What advice do you have for fellow students?
Continue through the struggles, keep moving forward through the classes. The future is brighter with the knowledge and experience obtained through the educational experience obtained from the courses and university. The networking opportunities with students and faculty provides insight and support through the process.
