Student Spotlight: Monica Bennett, graduate in the Law Enforcement Intelligence program.
After graduating, plans a career in the police intelligence field.

What inspired you to choose your degree program?

I have a background in law enforcement and I want to go into the police intelligence field after I retire and this was a perfect fit for me.

What has your experience been so far in the program?

I absolutely love this program and I am so happy to be enrolled. The faculty are extremely helpful and always respond when I need any help.

What aspect of your area of study do you find most fascinating?

The area of study I find most exciting is the ability to make a difference in society.

Who are the faculty or staff members that have helped or inspired you?

Professor Banyon Pelham and Professor Frank Marmo. They both have so much knowledge being former law enforcement. It’s exciting to learn new things from them and soak up all their knowledge. It’s always a benefit to learn from someone who has experienced what they are teaching.

What do you like to do when you’re not doing school work?

When I am not at work or school, I love to work out, travel and read.

After you graduate, what are your plans?

My plans after graduating are to finish another year at my job before retiring then moving onto the next phase of my career in the police intelligence field.

What advice do you have for fellow students?

My advise to fellow students is to always read the material for each assignment and not wait until the last minute to do the work. If you do not understand something, reach out to your professor immediately via email for assistance. I also like to read everyone’s responses on the discussion boards to get a better understanding of the material.
