Tova Plumer, transferred to FSU Panama City for the CSI undergraduate and UCSI certificate programs

Cristina Doan

Where are you from? Why did you choose to attend FSU Panama City?

I was born and raised in Kansas. I chose to transfer from KSU to FSU when I discovered the Underwater Crime Scene Investigation undergraduate certificate program.

What inspired you to choose your degree program?

Student Spotlight: Tova Plumer, undergraduate student, transferred to FSU PC for
the CSI and UCSI certificate programs.

I have always had a strong interest in crime scene investigation and forensics, as well as a passion for scuba diving. So, when I discovered this program, I knew this was the path I wanted to take.

What has your experience been so far in the program?

My experience with the program has been amazing. The professors here are all very supportive. I have learned so much and enjoyed every step of the way so far. I have been given amazing opportunities to be hands on with real investigations and I am grateful for the experience it has given me. I feel as though it has opened a lot of doors for me as well.

What aspect of your area of study do you find most fascinating?

It’s hard to choose because I find all aspects of CSI fascinating, but I have really enjoyed studying forensic death investigation.

Who are the faculty or staff members that have helped or inspired you?

Mark Feulner, Charla Perdue, Lucy Hoover, Lindsey Miller, Darren DeDario and Adam Wendt are all faculty members that have inspired me here at FSU Panama City. They are all extremely knowledgeable and I have learned a lot from each of them.

What do you like to do when you’re not doing school work?

When I'm not doing schoolwork, I usually spend my time diving, taking my dog to the park, or reading. My latest obsession is a book called Cain’s Jawbone, which is a murder mystery with the pages scrambled.

After you graduate, what are your plans?

Since graduation is still a year away for me, I am not committing to any career ideas yet, but when the time gets closer, I will have a better idea for myself. One thing I know for sure is that I do hope to use my diving skills and knowledge no matter what I do, or where I go!

What advice do you have for fellow students?

Don't be discouraged if you haven't found the path you want to take yet. I changed my major 2 times and took a gap year before realizing what I really wanted to do with my life. Follow what you're passionate about and you'll discover where you’re supposed to go.
